Declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1990, Santo Domingo is the most modern and dynamic metropolis in the Caribbean.

With almost 4 million inhabitants, the “Capital”, as the Dominicans call it, perfectly illustrates the rhythm of the country’s culture, where old and new harmoniously converge, from architecture and history to large modern shopping centers and luxurious.

The city offers an essential nightlife with a booming modern gastronomic offer, but also its essential traditional restaurants, its typical bars or Bachata and merengue dance all night.

The first European colony in the Americas, discovered by Christopher Columbus in 1492, is more particularly characterized by its Colonial Zone. Walking and discovering this Hispanic city is a recommended experience for all travelers who come to the Dominican Republic. This historic district is made up of a maze of narrow, pedestrian-friendly streets filled with architectural marvels that lead to colonial buildings turned into museums, shops, hotels, restaurants, and café terraces. Culture is never far away in the eclectic districts of Santo Domingo. Sunday night is known for its festivals around the San Francisco Monastery, Dominican food, music and dance.

Dine in style at luxury hotels, found throughout the city, where renowned chefs offer Dominican and international cuisine.

Relax by smoking a Dominican cigar with a glass of rum in hand (alcohol abuse is dangerous to your health) on one of the bistro’s terraces overlooking Plaza de España or on one of the city’s many rooftops.

Boca Chica, the first beach in the city a few kilometers from the center, will offer you all the pleasure of the coast with its small typical restaurants where you can taste fresh fish in front of the crystal clear waters of the Caribbean Sea.

Santo Domingo is the ideal place for a quick change of scenery, an experience that combines originality, customs and modernism.
